Alinta's Commitment to the Community

Community Park

At Alinta, we're proud to be Official Community Development Partner of the Fremantle Football Club and a Diamond Level sponsor.

In addition to being a sponsor of the Dockers since the club's inception 12 years ago, we're committed to supporting the Western Australian community through a range of initiatives which focus on the children and families of our state.

In the Name of Fun: Community Development Programme

The Community Development Programme uses Australian Rules Football as a vehicle to help children develop life skills and values. The programme incorporates:

  • Fun - A strong focus of the programme is the importance of making time for recreation and enjoyment. The main aim is having fun!
  • Fitness - Promoting health and fitness in children and getting them involved in sport for life is central to the Community Development Programme.
  • Friendship - The programme teaches children how to be team players and how to work with others - skills which will help them succeed in all aspects of their lives.
  • Family - It's not just about the kids! We encourage families and local sports clubs to be actively involved in the Community Development Programme.

In 2007, a record 550 schools registered for participation in the Community Development Programme through school-based clinics. Elements of the Community Development Programme include:

  • The popular Johnny 'the Doc' Motor Skills Programme which visits pre-primary centres and uses simple and fun play activities to promote basic motor, communication and social skills.
  • AFL Experience Clinics give students a unique opportunity to understand how an AFL football club operates behind the scenes as well as giving them the opportunity to take part in a football clinic run by Fremantle players.
  • The School of the Week Programme where school classes enjoy an afternoon of fun at the Fremantle Football Club, including a special footy clinic and a chance to watch the players train.
  • Freo Long Bomb and Freo Kwik Kick competitions where primary and secondary schools take part in a fun competition to kick the ball as far and as fast as they can.
  • Welcome to the AFL, the newest addition to the programme portfolio which is designed to introduce and engage new participants to AFL, culminating in a family visit to a Fremantle home game.

We're looking at adding some new and exciting programmes in the future. To get involved, speak with your child's school to encourage the school to register early for next year's programmes.
